What do tech billionaires usually wear?

The late Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ black turtleneck or Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang‘s signature leather jacket are iconic images in the tech world.

In addition to their innovative products, fashion style is also a distinctive trait among tech billionaires.

Known for his iconic black turtleneck and blue jeans. According to biographer Walter Isaacson, Jobs initially wanted Apple employees to wear uniforms designed by Issey Miyake, but the idea never materialized. “I asked Issey to make me some black turtlenecks that I liked, and he made me about a hundred,” Jobs told Isaacson.

While his fashion sense has evolved recently, Zuckerberg was once synonymous with his hoodie, jeans, and flip-flops. “I really want to clear my life so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything,” Zuckerberg explained in a 2014 interview with Huh Bub. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, revealed that Zuckerberg intentionally minimized outfit decisions to focus on running his company.

The Nvidia CEO is famously loyal to his signature black leather jacket, which has been a staple in his wardrobe for over 20 years. A senior Nvidia employee shared that Huang’s outfit choice was a tribute to his wife and daughter, who shaped his fashion style. Huang explained that maintaining a consistent style helps him avoid unnecessary decisions, allowing him to focus on more important matters.

The Twitter (now X) co-founder and Block CEO often opts for monochrome outfits in black, including leather jackets, vests, hoodies, or T-shirts. Recently, Dorsey embraced a bolder look, wearing a tie-dye orange shirt, with a shaved head and long beard at the Bitcoin 2021 Conference in Miami.

The Microsoft co-founder adapts his outfits based on the occasion but often sticks to a mix of sweaters and collared shirts. In a 2016 Reddit AMA, Gates mentioned he avoids overspending on clothes: “I think people’s spending instincts are shaped in high school. I don’t like spending much on clothes or jewelry.”
