Apple sells iPhone Pocket for $230

iPhone Pocket is a collaboration between Apple and Issey Miyake, using 3D knitting technology with the ability to stretch to fit all iPhone models.

The limited-edition iPhone Pocket, inspired by “a piece of fabric”, has a ribbed open weave design, allowing for a see-through look when stretched. The accessory is created using monolithic 3D knitting technology, fitting different iPhone versions and adding a few small items such as AirPods. Users can wear it in many different ways such as holding it by hand, tying it to a bag or wearing it cross-body.

The product has two versions, including a short strap priced at $149.95 (VND 3.66 million) in lemon yellow, orange, purple, pink, blue, brown, black and a long strap priced at $229.95 (VND 5.63 million) in three colors: blue, brown, black.

This is the next step in Apple’s expansion into fashion accessories, following the introduction of the iPhone 17 strap. “iPhone Pocket explores the concept of the joy of wearing your phone in your own way,” said Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director at Miyake Design Studio.

The collaboration also has nostalgic significance for longtime Apple fans, as the late CEO Steve Jobs often wore black turtlenecks from Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake, making them part of his iconic look.

However, the high price, especially for the long-strap version, of the iPhone Pocket quickly became a topic of discussion online. According to a PhoneArena survey, the majority of respondents said they would choose a protective case over a strap worth several hundred dollars.

Apple has not revealed the exact number of straps it plans to produce, but said the product will go on sale starting November 14 at Apple Stores in the US, UK, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Italy, France and China.
