What HighTechz Is
HighTechz is a one-person publication covering AI tools, software, and tech news. I test tools hands-on, track what’s actually shipping in the AI space, and write up what I find worth knowing. The scope is focused: AI productivity tools, developer tools, emerging models, and the tech news that matters to people who work with this stuff day to day. No lifestyle gadgets. No sponsored roundups. Just the things I’m actually using, evaluating, and following closely as an engineer embedded in this space.
Why It Exists
I started HighTechZ because most tech coverage drove me up a wall. Launch-day hype pieces written by people who spent 20 minutes with a tool. Affiliate-stuffed listicles ranking software the author never opened. “Honest reviews” that are anything but. There’s a real gap between the noise and what someone actually needs to know before they pay for a subscription or build a workflow around a tool. I got tired of wading through that and figured I wasn’t the only one. HighTechZ exists to be the coverage I wanted to read — direct, accurate, based on real use, and not written to flatter anyone with an ad budget.
Editorial Principles
- No paid placements. I don’t accept sponsored posts, paid reviews, or fees for coverage. What gets written here gets written because I think it’s worth covering.
- Affiliate links are disclosed. If a link earns a referral commission, it’s labeled. It has no effect on the editorial verdict.
- AI assistance is disclosed. When AI tools are used in researching or drafting an article, that’s stated clearly in the piece. See the section below.
- No clickbait. Headlines say what the article is. If a tool is mediocre, the headline won’t call it a game-changer.
- Corrections are welcomed. If something I published is wrong, I want to know. Reach out and I’ll review it, correct it publicly, and note the update in the article.
A Note on AI Assistance
Some articles on HighTechZ are researched and drafted with the help of Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant. I use it as a writing tool — for structuring drafts, summarizing research, and working through early versions of an article faster. Every piece is reviewed, edited, and fact-checked by me before it goes live. Sources are cited inline so you can verify claims yourself. I’m disclosing this plainly because I think readers deserve to know how content is produced, and because using AI tools to write about AI tools without mentioning it would be a strange kind of dishonesty. The analysis, the judgments, and the editorial decisions are mine. The process just involves tools — same as every other engineer’s workflow.
