Reports from IDC show that Samsung did reclaim the top spot in global smartphone sales for Q1 2024, likely due in part to the S24 series. However, Counterpoint Research indicates that the iPhone 15 Pro Max, not the Galaxy S24 Ultra, was actually the best-selling individual phone in the world during that period. The S24 Ultra, despite its positive reception, landed at number five.
So, what does this mean for the S24 Ultra? While it may not have reached the top globally, Samsung still has reason to celebrate. The S24 series likely played a significant role in Samsung regaining the overall smartphone sales crown. Additionally, strong sales within the Android market solidify the S24 Ultra’s position as a major contender.

It’s also worth noting that the iPhone 15 Pro Max launched several months before the S24 Ultra. This head start likely contributed to its Q1 sales lead. With a full quarter under its belt, the S24 Ultra might show a different story in future reports.
